James Gunn Claims Peacemaker Is Safe Amid Recent WB-Discovery Shakeups

Now that Warner Bros. and Discovery have merged, there have been a lot of changes as Discovery makes several cutbacks. The most noteworthy has been the cancellation of Batgirl, which was said to be nearly finished. The movie will no longer stream on HBO Max or go to theaters. Discovery also cancelled a sequel to Scoob and removed several Max originals from the service.
It’s believed they are planning to write off the films on taxes, particularly since Batgirl had a $90 million budget. They will report their Q2 2022 earnings today.
With recent cancellations and the future of HBO Max unclear, a fan took to Twitter to ask James Gunn if season two of Peacemaker was still happening.
Gunn replied: “Yes, guys. Calm down.”

The series was renewed for a second season back in February after the first drew critical acclaim. It stars John Cena as the titular character, along with Danielle Brooks, Freddie Storma, Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee.
