James Gunn Confirms The Suicide Squad Will Be R-Rated
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will make the jump to an R rating, as confirmed by the director himself. Fans have been hoping that the film may carry the more adult rating after there was some disappointment that David Ayer’s original Suicide Squad was PG-13. Speaking with a fan on Twitter, Gunn has confirmed that the film will get the more restrictive MPAA rating, posting:

The film will is written and directed by Gunn and stars John Cena, Jai Courtney, JoaquÃn CosÃo, Joel Kinnaman, Maylin Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Deigo Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Brage, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Margot Robbie.
It will release in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th.
