James Gunn Says Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Will Be the End of Current Roster

The third Guardians Of The Galaxy film will be the last to feature the current lineup, according to James Gunn. Gunn is writing and directing the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 which is set to release on May 5th, 2023 and recently spoke with Deadline’s Hero Nation Podcast about the film. On Guardians 3 being the end of this particular lineup: “This is the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians.”

On the film’s tone and scope: “It’s big; it’s so, so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be. I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story. That’s always a little bit scary; I’m doing my best … I’m aware that the third film in most trilogies sucks; not always.”
