James Gunn Wraps Production On The Suicide Squad

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is officially in the can, as the writer-director has announced a wrap on filming. Gunn posted to Instagram to announce the end of production on the sequel, as you can see below.

In the post, Gunn talks about how the production process has been a difficult one due to personal losses and adds, “It was a hard, hard time in my life and yet the most fulfilling time I’ve ever had making a movie. The professionalism, talent, compassion and kindness of this cast and crew inspired me every day.”

The film stars Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, John Cena, Nathan Fillion, David Dastmalchian, Michael Rooker, Storm Reid, Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi and more. A tonally different take on the franchise that serves as a follow-up to Suicide Squad, it opens on August 6th, 2021.
