Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Split Up Last Year

The Huffington Post reports that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have split up after over two years of marriage. They separated late last year but released a joint statement yesterday. They met on the set of Tropic Thunder in 2007 and got engaged five years later, before getting married on August 5, 2015. They have no children together.

The couple’s relationship had been a popular subject for many gossip sites, as Aniston’s private life generally was. She wrote an essay for the Huffington Post in 2016 stating she was tired of the gossip about her body, her personal decisions and if she was pregnant. She added last year that the gossip had not relented.

The couple said in a statement: “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.“
