In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, John Carpenter gave his thoughts on the upcoming Big Trouble In Little China. This comes after Bleeding Cool asked him about it on his Facebook page last week. At the time, he said he doesn’t own the rights and didn’t write the film so it’s “no harm, no foul.” Here are highlights:

On his thoughts of a remake: “I’m ambivalent about a remake. On the other hand, it depends on how much they pay me.”

On if he’s met with Dwayne Johnson: “It’s very early in the process. I haven’t spoken to Dwayne Johnson about any of this.”

On if Johnson could replicate what Kurt Russell did: “It would be hard if not impossible to replace Kurt Russell as Jack Burton. On the other hand, Johnson has a comic touch in his performances, so perhaps.”
