Joker Becomes Most Profitable Comic Book Movie Ever

Forbes reports that after just five weeks in theaters, Joker is now the most profitable comic book movie ever with a worldwide gross of $953 million on a $62.5 million production budget, topping Venom which earned $854 million on a $90 million budget.
Other extremely profitable comic book movies include Batman ($411 million on a $35 million budget), Deadpool ($783 million on a $58 million budget), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ($200 million on a $13.5 million budget), and The Mask ($351 million on a $23 million budget).
Joker‘s haul is especially impressive when considering that it is rated R, not 3-D, and is not relying on China.
The movie will soon become the cheapest movie to top the $1 billion mark, topping Jurassic Park, and will soon pass The Dark Knight as the highest-grossing movie ever to not run in China (Dark Knight currently sits at $1.004 billion without China).
The movie is likely to become DC’s fourth-highest grossing film domestically, behind Wonder Woman, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Dark Knight, and DC’s third-highest grossing film globally behind The Dark Knight Rises and Aquaman.
Joker could also see new life at the box office during Oscar season if it scores any nominations.
