Jon Watts spoke with Empire Magazine (via Yahoo!) and Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb talked with /Film about Spider-Man entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War and the 2017 solo film. Check out the highlights:

Watts on not retelling the origin story: “There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high school movie. We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now… Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.”

Webb on Spider-Man entering the MCU: “I’m very excited for all the folks at Marvel and what they’re going to do with that character. I think he belongs in that universe and there’s a real excitement to see what they come up with. Maybe we’ll all be on a panel someday, Sam, me and whoever directs it.”
