After the success of IT, it seems that studios are going all-in on Stephen King adaptations. Variety reports that Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars, New Mutants) is set to write an adaptation of The Talisman, which King wrote with fellow horror author Peter Straub. Boone may also direct eventually, but for now he’s just set to write. Frank Marshall will produce with Amblin Entertainment with Michael Wright executive producing.

The film follows a boy who travels to a parallel universe called the Territories to search for a powerful talisman and save his mother’s life. The adaptation has been in development hell since the book’s publication in 1984, with Steven Spielberg attached at one point. Amblin wanted to initially make it a TV show but decided on a film version instead.

Boone, meanwhile, is already set to write and direct an adaptation of The Stand, which was put on hold. He was then hired to adapt Revival and that is currently in development.
