Judge Dismisses Sexual Assault Count Against Harvey Weinstein

October 11, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

TMZ reports that a judge has dismissed one of the three cases of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein, this one from an actress named Lucia Evans. This came after prosecutors asked the judge to drop the charge.

The lead detective in the Weinstein cases is now under investigation after tampering with a witness. The witness claimed that Evans told she voluntarily gave Weinstein oral sex to get an acting role. Evans claims Weinstein forced it on her. The detective is accused of hiding information about the witness and getting the witness to stay quiet about what she was allegedly told. Weinstein’s lawyer Ben Brafman asked the judge to review all of the detective’s work, but the judge has yet to respond to that request.

There are still five criminal charges against the embattled producer involving two other women.

The judge also released a letter from the district attorney’s office to Brafman. It said that the witness claims that Weinstein offered to give Evans money if she showed him her breasts. Evans claimed that Weinstein promised an acting role if she gave him oral sex. The letter said the detective told the witness she had no reason to cooperate with prosecutors and “less is more.”
