Kevin Feige confirmed in a recent interview that Marvel Studios is producing TV shows for the upcoming Disney Play streaming service. Speaking with THR, the Marvel Studios boss kept details light but did confirm that the shows are in the works.

“Well, it’s not a hundred percent complete yet, so there’s only so much I’m allowed to say, or so much they even tell me,” Feige said. “But Paul mentioned the streaming service, and I think that is something that we’re going to be adding content to, which is exciting. I love your analogy with the campfire, right? As many people as you can get around the campfire and tell stories. Campfires can be different: We are going to tell stories for the streaming service that we wouldn’t be able to tell in a theatrical experience — a longer-form narrative, that’s what comics are, it’s about as longform a narrative as exists.”

He added, “But also maintaining that theatrical experience, which is our bread and butter, and the lines around the block, if you’re lucky.”

Feige’s comments confirm a report from September that the studio was working on limited “event series” running six to eight episodes and centering on MCU film characters who aren’t likely to receive their own solo films. The original report noted that shows for Scarlet Witch and Loki were in the works, while a report from this week revealed that a Winter Soldier/Falcon show is in development. The films are said to have feature film-level budgets and will feature the film stars reprising their roles.

Disney Play will launch next year for Disney.
