Kevin Feige cut his teeth as a producer on the X-Men films, and he says he’s looking forward to bringing them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige spoke with ScreenRant for a new interview ahead of the premiere of WandaVision, and said that there have been internal discussions about bringing Marvel’s mutants into the MC for a while.

“You know how much I love the X-Men,” Feige said. “I already said that’s where I started. I can’t tell you anything before we actually announced it, but rest assured, the discussions have been long and ongoing internally.”

Feige teased during Marvel Studios’ presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that “the mutants” would be coming to the MCU. The X-Men were course a lucrative franchise for Fox before it was bought by Disney, though there were ups and downs during Fox’s tenure with the mutants who are perennially among Marvel’s most popular characters. Feige (and by extension Marvel) is keeping his cards close to the vest about how the characters will fit into the MCU to date.
