The Hunger Games may be in session again on the big screen, as Lionsgate is eying a prequel film based on Suzanne Collins’ upcoming novel. THR reports that the studio is considering a film adaptation of the novel and has spoken with Collins about it.

“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie,” Joe Drake, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman, said Monday.

The new novel is set 64 years before the start of the original book series, during the tenth Hunger Games. Lionsgate is the home of the first four Hunger Games films, which were blockbuster hits and helped launch Jennifer Lawrence to super-stardom. They’ve earned a combined $2.968 billion worldwide, and Lionsgate has been looking for another franchise of that scale ever since.

The novel will be released by Scholastic in May of next year.
