Lionsgate Officially Greenlights Knives Out Sequel
Benoit Blanc’s next adventure is officially a go, as Lionsgate has greenlit a sequel to Knives Out. According to Deadline, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed the film is moving forward during the company’s Q3 earnings call on Thursday and suggested that the production could start filming soon.
Knives Out has been a criticial and commercial hit for Lionsgate, with the film grossing $156.4 million domestically and $294 million worldwide thus far on a budget of $40 million plus marketing. The film also earned Rian Johnson an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
The news isn’t a shocker, as Johnson revealed at the Golden Globes that he was at work on the sequel, which will follow Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc into a new mystery.
Feltheimer also said that the previously-announced John Wick 4 is almost ready to start production. That film is set to release on May 21st, 2021.
