Loki will be back for another season, but director Kate Herron has revealed she will not be returning with it. As was reported on Wednesday, the end of the Disney+ MCU series’ first season had a post-credits stinger revealing that a second season was on the way. Speaking with Deadline, Herron noted that she is not returning and was always only in for the first season.

“I’m not returning,” Herron said. “I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”

Asked if she has immediate plans to be involved in another Marvel film, she said, “No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment. I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”

There are not yet any details on what the new season will entail or when we might see it.
