HBO Max is just over a week old, and its biggest hit isn’t HBO’s big heavyweight shows but instead Looney Tunes. Bloomberg reports that the new episodes of Warner Bros.’ animated characters were the most popular of the launch offerings by far, being 16.5 more in demand than the average HBO Max show.

Kids’ fare also registered high marks with The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo, which was 10 times more popular than the average show. New original adult fare came in strong as well, albeit slightly less so with Anna Kendrick’s Love Life at 8.4 times popularity and the ball culture comeptition series Legendary 5.4 times more popular than the average.

The report does not make it clear where non-original content like Game of Thrones, Westworld and Friends ranked except to say that Looney Tunes and Elmo were the two most popular shows in the first four days, and that Love Life has since taken #2 from Elmo. It did note, however, that while initial viewing is strong the service has not launched with a show at the level of The Mandalorian. By comparison, the Star Wars series was a stunning 46.1 times more popular than the average Disney+ show when it debuted.

HBO Max plans to continue rolling out new content progressively throughout the year, as opposed to a host of new content all at once. Love Life, Elmo, and Legendary started with three episodes each and have released one to three episodes in the week since, as opposed to releasing the whole series at once in binge-worthy fashion.
