Lost Nude Scene Featuring Marilyn Monroe Rediscovered

A lost nude scene featuring Marilyn Monroe from The Misfits has been rediscovered, according to a new report. The Daily Mail reports that Charles Casillo, who was researching his book Marilyn Monroe: The Private Life of a Public Icon, discovered that producer Frank Tayloir kept the footage which never made it into the film.

Casillo spoke with Taylor’s son Curtice, who said that the footage has been in a locked cabinet since his father passed away in 1999. The footage is part of the love scene between Monroe and Clark Gable’s characters, in which Monroe dropped a bedsheet covering her otherwise-nude body. The move was Monroe’s choice and John Huston left it out of the final cut of the film. It would have been the first depiction of nudity by an American actress in a mainstream feature film.

At this time, it isn’t known what will become of the footage.
