Mark Ruffalo Explains Why He Didn’t Join Avengers Castmates in Getting Tattooed

Mark Ruffalo is the lone member of the original MCU Avengers team to not get a tattoo, and now he’s explained why. Ruffalo discussed the situation on The Tonight Show, noting that he’s afraid of needles.

The remaing five members — Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johannson — had tattoos of the Avengers logo done earlier this year. Ruffalo joked, “I’ve kind of got a punk rock soul and I felt like ‘dude, everyone has tattoos. I’m going to be punk rock and not get the tattoo.'”

He did note that “honestly, I feel left out and I’m working up the courage to get needled.”
