Marvel and Kevin Feige have plenty of reason to celebrate 2018. Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther become Marvel’s largest worldwide and Stateside hits, with Black Panther receiving Oscar buzz.

Everything is coming up Marvel these days and with all eyes on Avengers: Endgame, many are asking how they’ll top it and move forward?

“It’s surreal,” Feige said in an interview talking about the success they’ve had. “In one way it’s incredibly satisfying. In the other way it’s nearly unbelievable from where we started. There were days when I wasn’t sure we would be able to get Iron Man in theaters. There were days when I thought Avengers was a pipe dream. And there were days after Avengers where I thought, ‘Well, where do we go?’”

Looks like it will likely be the X-Men and Fantastic Four and incorporating them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as early as this coming year. Feige told Variety that he expects that he will gain access to the characters as a result of the Disney/Fox merger within the first six months of 2019.

“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year,” Feige told the outlet. “The notion of the characters that had previously been under a Fox agreement coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to; Marvel’s been in a unique position to not have access to those characters for a long time … But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

NBC News reported that “unnamed sources” close to the Fox/Disney merger expect it to be completed by the end of January. With Marvel’s film schedule currently booked through 2019, a big screen debut could happen in 2020.

But what’s the best way to do it?

Many would assume that Endgame would have been ideal, using the Infinity Gauntlet to open things up for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to step in seamlessly. With that option off the table, what’s next?

Perhaps Dr. Strange could be the tool to open up a portal between worlds. Or maybe use ‘Secret Wars’ and the Beyonder to bring everyone together. I think that would be more easier to follow over Jonathan Hickman’s miniseries from 2015.

With Marvel’s track record, however they do it will most likely result in box office records and an even larger cinematic universe with decades of potential.

How would introduce the Fantastic Four and the X-Men?
