Marvel Taps Destin Daniel Cretton to Direct Shang-Chi

Marvel Studios has found a director for their Shang-Chi film. Deadline reports that Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy) is set to direct the film, which will be Marvel’s first superhero movie starring an Asian protagonist.

The script for the movie was written by Dave Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, Zombieland 2). It will follow Shang-Chi, aka the Master of Kung Fu, who has been a staple of Marvel Comics dating back to 1973. Shang-Chi is a master martial artist who eventually was a member of The Avengers and gained the power to create countless duplicates of himself.

Marvel has yet to officially announce the film, which is expected to be part of the post-Avengers: Endgame Phase Four.
