Marvel to Shoot Shang-Chi, Thor: Love and Thunder Back-to-Back in Australia

Marvel will be spending a good amount of time Down Under for Phase 4, shooting both Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Thor: Love and Thunder in the country. Variety reports that Marvel will shoot the two films are expected to film back-to-back at the Fox Studios lot in Sydney, which Disney now owns as part of their acquisition of Fox.

Shang-Chi will begin production first, while pre-production on Thor: Love and Thunder will kick off in March 2020. Filming on the Thor sequel will then start in August of next year. New South Wales communications minister Paul Fletcher said that production of Love and Thunder alone will see Marvel invest $124 million (US) in the local economy, create up to 2,500 jobs and use the services of around 1,650 businesses.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to release on February 12, 2021 and is directed by Dustin Daniel Cretton, with Simi Liu starring in the titular role. Thor: Love and Thunder will release on November 5, 2021.
