Kevin Feige is known for his work guiding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but now he’s taking a detour into the Star Wars universe. Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and CCO Alan Horn spoke with THR and revealed that Feige, the president of Marvel Studios who has produced every film in the MCU, is developing a Star Wars film with Lucasfilm.

“We are excited about the projects Kathy [Kennedy] and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox,” Horn said. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

Horn did not reveal any further details, but the outlet reports that this is not Feige stepping into a larger role within Lucasfilm and, with a top source saying Kennedy remains in charge and there are no plans for that to change. The site also said that Feige has a specific actor that he has told about a specific role he’d like that person to play when and if the movie gets made.

Feige’s film is just one of a number of Star Wars projects in the works to take the franchise in new directions when the Skywalker sage ends with Episode ICX this December. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) are developing films in the universe, while Rian Johnson is working on a new trilogy as well. Disney+ has The Mandalorian set to launch with the service on November 12th, with a Rogue One prequel series looking at Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor.
