UPDATE: Or…maybe not. While the New York Post’s report claimed that Matt Damon was moving to Australia to get away from Donald Trump, Damon has denied this fact…or even that he is buying property in the country.

A rep for Damon shut down the report, telling Boston.com, “Matt has visited Australia several times recently, but he has not bought a house there nor is he moving there.”

ORIGINAL: The New York Post reports that Matt Damon is planning to get away from President Donald Trump and his policies by moving to Australia with his family. Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph revealed that Damon bought a property in Byron Bay, New South Wales. It’s next door to the home of Chris Hemsworth. Damon is married to Luciana Barroso and they have four kids together.

A source said: “Matt’s telling friends and colleagues in Hollywood that he’s moving the family to Australia. Matt’s saying the move will not impact his work — as he will travel to wherever his projects are shooting. He’s also telling friends he wants to have a safe place to raise his kids.”

Damon has no major projects on his schedule, which would allow him to make the move. The only thing on the horizon is an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution, which he will produce. He also has a cameo in Ocean’s 8 but that film has finished production.
