Clarissa Explains It All

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nickelodeon is preparing to revive Clarissa Explains It All. Melissa Joan Hart would return to play Clarissa Darling, now grown up and the mother of her own family. Series creator Mitchell Kriegman is also in talks to return as the writer and executive producer. Hart would also executive produce through Hartbreak Films, which she runs with her mother, producer Paula Hart. Nickelodeon has not commented as the deals are not done.

The original show ran for five seasons and 65 episodes from 1991 to 1994. Hart played Clarissa, a teenager who talked to the audience as she dealt with things a teenage girl normally deals with. It also starred Jason Zimbler, Sean O’Neal, Elizabeth Hess and Joe O’Connor. It was credited as the first Nick series with a female lead, which led to other female-starring shows like The Secret World of Alex Mack and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo.

Kriegman returned to the story with a novel called Things I Can’t Explain in 2015, a sequel that had Clarissa in her late 20s trying to live life as an adult.
