MGM has landed on a new director for RoboCop Returns following Neill Blomkamp’s departure from the film. THR reports that Abe Forsythe, who directed the Lupita Nyong’o-starring zombie comedy Little Monsters, has been attached to direct the new film in the franchise.

Blomkamp was set to direct the film but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Forsythe will rewrite the script that was written by Justin Rhodes, itself adapted from a script from Ed Neumier and Michael Miner who wrote the original.

The new film will be a direct sequel to the original in the manner of Halloween Kills. There is no release date set at this time.
