Mindy Kaling really wants to bring Kamala Khan to the MCU, and she says that Marvel Studios does as well. Kaling spoke with MTV News, as you can see in the below video, about her appreciation of the character and said that she’s spoken with the studio about their plans for her.

“I think the people I’ve spoken to [at] Marvel about it are so excited about the character, and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and I told them I would help in any way, because I truly love her,” Kaling said. “But they seemed really interested, and I think they will probably do something. Now that there’s, like, this streaming platform with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is… the excitement, you know. Riz [Ahmed], me, every different Desi actor was very excited.”

When asked who should play Kamala, Kaling said, “You know, I feel like she might need to be an unknown. Wouldn’t that be exciting?”

Kamala Khan is one of Marvel’s most successful new creations of the last several years. Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, Kamala is a Muslim Pakistani-American living in New Jersey who was exposed to Terrigen mists. Kamala went through Terrigenesis, the process by which Inhumans come into their powers, and gained the ability to alter her size and shape. A major fan of superheroes before she was an Inhuman, she took the name of Ms. Marvel, which Carol Danvers had left behind when she took on the identity of Captain Marvel. The character has remained consistently popular for Marvel and since becoming a superhero, Kamala has briefly been an Avenger before leading her own team in the Champions.
