Mission: Impossible 7 may completely forego its planned shoot in Venice, Italy over concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As previously reported, Paramount Pictures had delayed the shoot in Venice due to fears about the fast-growing spread of the virus in Italy. According to Variety, the film is hoping to begin production again in June but that there is discussion about either doing away with the Italy shoot or to push shooting back into the fall in order to maintain the setting for some of the shoot.

The script has scenes specifically set in Italy, so if the shoot is scapped they would likely have to change the script in order to change the location. A final decision has yet to be made on whether to scrap shooting in the country or not.

The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Nicholas Hoult, Simon Pegg & Henry Czerny. It is currently scheduled to open on July 23rd, 2021.
