Marvel’s living vampire will have to wait a little longer to come to life, as Joblo reports that Sony Pictures has pushed back the release date of Morbius to January 28, 2022. This is only a week later, as its most recent date was January 21.

Morbius has been one of several films hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was originally set to arrive on July 10 of last year. It then got bumped to July 31; then March 19 of this year, then October 8 and finally, January 21. Assuming it doesn’t move again, it will now open against Universal and Blumhouse’s horror film The Black Phone, from director Scott Derrickson.

The film was directed by Daniel Espinosa. It stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, Tyrese Gibson and Michael Keaton.

Here’s a synopsis: One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
