The Venom sequel is bringing another (one-time) symbiote on board in Shriek, and Spectre co-star Naomie Harris is in talks to play her. Variety reports that Harris, who plays Eve Moneypenny in the 007 franchise and earned an Oscar Nomination for her role in Moonlight, is in negotiations to play the female symbiote villain, joining a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Williams.

Shriek is the identity used by Frances Louise Barrison (alias Sandra Deel) in the comics. The comics version is a mutant with the ability to manipulate sound for things like sonic shields and energy blasts. She allied with Carnage in the “Maximum Carnage” event and became a romantic interest for the character. She had a symbiote at one point, though more often than not she operated without one. Shriek recently died during the currently-ongoing “Absolute Carnage” event, allowing Carnage to rip out her spine in a ritual to resurrect Demogoblin, who possessed her corpse. With Harrelson playing Carnage in the film, it’s likely that the two will team up against Venom.

Andy Serkis is directing Venom 2 from a script by Kelly Marcel. The film does not currently have a release date, though Sony does have an “untitled Marvel sequel” set for October of 2020 which makes sense as the date for Venom 2.
