A lot of fans have theories about who Nathan Fillion will play in the upcoming The Suicide Squad, but he’s shot down at least one of them. Speaking with SiriusXM as you can see below, Fillion confirmed that he is not playing the infamous role of Arm Fall Off Boy in the James Gunn-directed movie, as some had theorized.

After saying a simple “right” in confirmation that he wouldn’t take on the role, Fillion took an opportunity to show off his comics knowledge by clarifying who the character is for the interviewer, saying, “There will be a superhero team in the future called the Legion of Superheroes. And if you’re a Legionnaire — they were called ‘Boy,’ ‘Girl,’ ‘Lad,’ or ‘Lass.’ And then the other name was whatever your power was. So, Lightning Lad, or Triple Kick Girl, or Bouncing Boy. Their names would tell you exactly their powers. That was the limit of comic book technology at the time was, ‘Well, we don’t know their powers so we’d better put it in the name.”

He went on to add that he wasn’t personally big on the Legion of Super Heroes but that it wasn’t the character he was playing. Discussing the speculation online, he said he was content to let people think that since it wasn’t the role he was playing, saying, “That was never a comic I really dived into, so I didn’t really know who that was that they were talking about, and it certainly wasn’t the name I was reading in the script. So, I just said, ‘Yeah, yeah, go for it. Whatever you guys think is great, so long as you’re not asking-‘ It’s so secret. It’s so super, duper secret.”

He added that some people have gotten close to guessing his role: “I start to sweat a little bit when people start getting close to what I would consider something that’s actually accurate. I’m the worst liar.”

The film releases on August 6th, 2021 and will star Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Margot Robbie, Fillion, John Cena, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Taika Waititi, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi, and others.
