The Sandman is Netflix’s latest breakout hit, but Neil Gaiman says a decision on a new season won’t come for at least another couple of weeks. Gaiman took to Twitter on Thursday to confirm that the streaming service has made “no decision” on a second season as of yet, as they want to get the first full month of data before doing so.

Gaiman wrote in response to a question from a fan about a second season:

“Nope. No word or decision from @netflix on Future Seasons. They will want to see how we do for the first month before committing. This is something else.”

The “something else” Gaiman mentioned is the surprise bonus episode that released on Friday, featuring the stories “Dream of a Thousand Cats” and “Calliope.” Netflix’s “wait and see” stance aside, The Sandman seems a likely target for renewal, topping the Netflix charts for its first two weeks and garnering a ton of buzz as well as critical acclaim online.
