Netflix Announces Second Season for Castlevania Animated Series

July 4, 2017 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

During the Anime Expo this week, Netflix and the producers for the upcoming Castlevania animated series confirmed that the show has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its upcoming July 7 premiere. Executive producers Kevin Kolde, Larry Tanz, and Adi Shankar were on hand for the announcement. Larry Tanz made the announcement on behalf of Netflix.

According to Tanz, the second season will be eight episodes, and writer Warren Ellis, who scripted the first season, will return to pen the next season. During the panel, the producers also debuted new footage from the first episode, which depicts Dracula falling in love with a human woman and provides insight to why he opted to wage war against humanity in Wallachia. The events of the first season are based on the third game in the Castlevania game franchise, Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse.

Considering executive producer first started developing this project about 10 years ago, hopefully it will not take another 10 years for the second season to come to fruition. Castlevania premieres on July 7 on Netflix. The first season, consisting of four episodes running about 30 minutes each, will be available to stream at launch. More details on Season Two for the show will be revealed later on. The show features Graham McTavish as the voice of Lord Dracula and Richard Armitage as the voice of Trevor Belmont.
