Some sad news today for Mystery Science Theater 3000 as show creator Joel Hodgson revealed on Twitter that Netflix is not producing a third season for the sci-fi comedy series. However, Hodgson indicated that there is still hope for the future of the series and added that this is “not the end of MST3K.”

Hodgson wrote on Twitter, “#MST3K is not doing a third season for Netflix. It’s not the end of MST3K, It’s just the end of the first chapter of bringing back MST3K.”

Show host Jonah Ray Rodrigues, who played Jonah in the two seasons of the show’s revivals, also tweeted out, “We don’t know what the future holds for the show, it always seemed to figure out how to survive. From Comedy Central to SyFy. Then kept alive by RIFFTRAX & Cinematic Titanic. Whatever happens, I want everybody to know that getting a chance to be on this show was a dream come true.”

Rodrigues added, “So, Thank you Joel & especially all the MSTies who embraced me as a mug in a (yellow) jumpsuit. I know it wasn’t easy accepting a new guy, so I appreciate the warmth.” He continued, “Now if only I can convince @shudder to pick us up and to let us share a night with Joe Bob Briggs?”

The two seasons for the revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Return and The Gauntlet, are still streaming on Netflix.
