Netflix is expecting to release about eighty original films next year, according to CCO Ted Sarandos at an investors’ interview on Monday. Variety reports that the studio plans to ramp up their original films slate to match what they’ve achieved on the television side.

“They range anywhere from the million-dollar Sundance hit, all the way up to something on a much larger scale,” Sarandos said. The plans dwarf 2017’s schedule that included fifty films that are released or is scheduled to debut globally. Those films include everything from foreign films and documentaries to big-budget productions like Bright, the Will Smith starrer that cost $80 million and hits Netflix worldwide on December 22nd. Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman starring Robert DeNiro will hit in early 2019 and cost over $100 million.

Sarandos said that Bright will change the game for them, noting, “I think people will start seeing the potential for this original movie initiative, that it could be done on the enormous scale we have on the television side.”
