Remember how Netflix announced at the beginning of the year that the service’s price would be going up? Well, that’s finally kicking in next month. Variety reports that the $1 to $2 a month price increase begins in May. The increase was announced back in January and was immediate for new customers, but was set to be phased in for existing customers.

Several customers have already been paying the new price for a month or two, to be fair. But for the remainder, the increase starts with their May billing cycles and will see the standard plan go from $10.99 to $12.99, while the $7.99 basic plan will rise to $8.99. The Premium plan, which provides up to four Ultra HD streams, is increasing from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.

Netflix hopes to use the increase to “continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience,” the service has announced. It comes as the service is facing a host of competition from old standbys like Amazon and Hulu to newer services like the Apple TV subscription plan, DC Universe and the upcoming Disney+.
