Netflix Announces Price Increase On Most Tiers

Netflix is about to get a bit more expensive, announcing a price increase on several tiers. The company announced on Tuesday that they are raising the price on their subscription tiers as follows:
Ad-Supported Tier: $7.99 (was $6.99)
Standard Tier: $17.99 (was $15.49)
Premium Tier: $24.99 (was $22.99)
In addition, the cost of adding an additional member to a primary account is now $8.99, up from $7.99.
Netflix said in its announcement,
“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix. To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the U.S., Canada, Portugal and Argentina (which was already factored into the 2025 guidance we provided in October 2024).”
It is the first major price increase for Netflix since October of 2023. The increase starts Tuesday for new customers and start with the next billing cycle for existing customers.
The move comes following the service going fully in with live events including the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight, NFL games on Christmas Day and WWE Raw launching on the service earlier this month.
