Netflix has announced the debut date for second season of their Emmy-nominated drama The Crown. The streaming service announced on Friday that the new season of the Peter Morgan-created series will arrive on December 8th. The show stars Claire Foy and Matt Smith and has earned a total of five Emmy nominations for this year’s award ceremony.

The series’ second season will cover the years of 1956 through 1964 and follow Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip (Foy and Smith) in their public and private lives.

“I think [Queen Elizabeth] starts to realize she needs to pay more attention to her personal life now that the other part of her life is going all right,” Foy told EW. That said, she noted, “The world’s changing faster than anyone can catch up with. There is no letup. She just keeps having to go from one crisis to another to another, and at some point, it’s about five crises at the same time and you have no idea how she manages to get up in the morning.”
