Netflix Testing Out ‘Skip Intro’ Button For Certain TV Shows

March 18, 2017 | Posted by Joseph Lee

For those that don’t want to sit through a minute or two of opening credits on TV shows, Netflix has you covered. The Verge reports that the streaming service is testing out a new button that will allow you to skip that portion of certain shows. Users on Twitter found a “skip intro” button that appears when you over over the title sequence for shows like House of Cards, Iron Fist, Mad Men and The Office. It works for shows that begin with the intro and shows that have a cold open. So far, the button has only been seen on the web version of Netflix. For it to move to other services would require app updates on the platforms where it’s available.

A spokeswoman for Netflix said: “We perform hundreds of tests every year to help make the Netflix member experience better.

Netflix users have requested the feature for some time, as some don’t want to see the credits multiple times while binging a show. Although if the episodes are on auto-play, the opening sequence will usually be skipped anyway.
