IMAX released a new behind-the-scenes featurette today for Avengers: Endgame, where directors Joe and Anthony Russo offer a look at creating an epic experience for fans of the MCU, which was shot entirely with IMAX cameras. You can check out that video below.

Director Joe Russo commented on the IMAX format, “For movies like this with cosmic settings and larger-than-life characters, there is no better way to shoot it, and there’s no better way to display it for an audience.” Co-director Anthony Russo added, “The epic scale of these movies requires a canvas like that.”

Avengers: Endgame is the second major Hollywood film to be shot exclusively with IMAX cameras, the first being Avengers: Infinity War. The sequel will feature the expanded IMAX aspect ratio on IMAX screens. That includes 26 percent more picture than what will be available in standard theaters.

The movie opens on April 26th and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, Jon Favreau, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Evangeline Lilly, Katherine Langford and Josh Brolin.

In Endgame, the grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films.
