New ILM Featurette Looks at The Mandalorian’s Virtual Sets

The Mandalorian does a great job featuring different locations in that galaxy far, far away, and a new ILM featurette reveals how that was done. You can check out the video below, which looks at how the effects studio filmed much of the series in an “immersive and massive 20’ high by 270-degree semicircular LED video wall and ceiling with a 75’-diameter performance space” which allowed Jon Favreau’s series to combine practical set aspects with digital extensions.

The series has been a massive hit for Disney+ since it launched alongside the service in November. The second season is set to release in October.
