Nicki Minaj Joins Cast for The Angry Birds Movie 2

Earlier this week, it was reported by Variety that Nicki Minaj has joined the voice cast for the upcoming animated sequel Angry Birds 2. The film is due out in August 2019.

Minaj joins the voice cast alongside returning members Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, and Peter Dinklage, who will all reprise their roles from the first film. Other new cast members include Leslie Jones, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Eugenio Derbez, Lil Rel Howery, Dove Cameron, and Zach Woods.

Her character for the film is currently unknown. The sequel will be directed by Thurop Van Orman and co-directed by John Rice. John Cohen is producing the project, and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews is serving as co-producer. Former Marvel Studios head David Maisel and Catherine Winder are executive producers. Sony Pictures Imageworks will be handling the animation production side.

The film’s release date will also mark the 10th anniversary of the original mobile video game, which has been downloaded more than four billion times. The Angry Birds Movie 2 arrives in theaters on August 16, 2019.
