The signs are becoming clearer that the original Ghostbusters cast may appear in the upcoming sequel from Jason Reitman. Reitman was at this weekend’s Ghostbusters Fan Fest put on by Wizard World and talked about the upcoming film, during which he confirmed (per EW) that the original cast members have all read the script. As you can see in the tweet below, Reitman said that “Sigourney [Weaver] has read the screenplay…Dan [Aykroyd] has read it…Ernie [Hudson]’s read the script…Bill Murray has read the script.”

The news comes after Weaver confirmed that she will be returning for the film, playing her original role of Dana Barrett. She seemingly confirmed the return of the other cast members too, saying, “It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” However, their involvement has yet to be officially confirmed at this point.

Reitman added that they plan to shoot in five weeks if everything works out as planned, and that the film is “funny and scary” as well as “a love letter to the original movie.” Weaver, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Carrie Coon are all set to star in the film, which has a July 10th, 2020 release date set.
