Paramount has pushed out several films as the delta variant of COVID-19 continues to surge, including Top Gun: Maverick. Variety reports that the studio has pushed out the Top Gun sequel to May 27th, 2022, six months later than its most recent November 19th date.

In addition, Mission: Impossible 7 has been pushed from the May 27th, 2022 date to September 30th, 2022. Finally, Jackass Forever will be delayed from October 22nd to February 4th, 2022.

The moves are the latest in a constant game of musical chairs regarding release dates amid the pandemic, a game that is ramping back up as the delta variant pushes infection rates higher. Sony is taking advantage of Paramounts move, as they have pushed Ghostbusters: Afterlife back eight dates from November 11th to the November 19th date that Maverick freshly vacated.
