Paramount Developing G.I. Joe Spinoff For Snake Eyes

Paramount Pictures is developing a spinoff of G.I. Joe centered on Snake Eyes. THR reports that the studio has tapped Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, The Huntsman: Winter’s War) to write the script, with Brian Goldner set to produce.

The character has appeared in both live-action films, 2009’s G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, with Ray Park playing the role. Snake Eyes is one of the franchise’s most popular characters and is a silent ninja commando who has a rivalry with his sword brother, Cobra’s Storm Shadow.

Currently, a new G.I. Joe movie is planned for a 2020 release.
