Deadline reports that Paramount has signed a deal with F. Gary Gray (director of Straight Outta Compton) and Hasbro to direct a feature film based on MASK. MASK was a line of toys from Kenner in the 1980s, which was previously developed into an animated series that ran for two seasons in 1985 and 1986. Hasbro and Gray will produce. The plan is to get a writer for a “contemporary subculture movie with a youth empowerment angle.”

The story follows a special task force called Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (M.A.S.K.), which is led by Matt Trakker. They have a series of transforming vehicles that they use in their fight against the criminal organization VENOM.
