Police Now Investigating Harvey Weinstein Allegations in London – New York Conducting Review

Police are investigating sexual abuse allegations for Harvey Weinstein in London, while New York police are reviewing for additional complaints. The Guardian reports that London Metropolitan police were passed an allegation of sexual abuse against the disgraced Hollywood producer on Wednesday and that “officers from the child abuse and sexual offences command.” At this time, there is no indication that the complaint is related to child abuse.

In addition, the NYPD said in a statement, “Based on information referenced in published news reports the NYPD is conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter. No filed complaints have been identified as of this time and as always, the NYPD encourages anyone who may have information pertaining to this matter to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.”

The NYPC previously dealt with a claim in March 2015 by The NYPD’s reference to “additional complaints” may relate to the March 2015 case in which Filipina-Italian model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez that Weinstein groped her breasts and put his hand up her skirt during an office meeting. After an investigation, the DA’s office decided not to file charges.

The news comes as accusations mount against Weinstein, who was fired from his position atop The Weinstein Company over the accusations. He has been accused of sexual harassment from several women, from prominent actresses like Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale to staffers who have worked for him. Asia Argento claimed that Argento sexually assaulted her in 1997 by forcibly performing oral sex on her while she repeatedly asked him to stop.

Weinstein has denied accusations of criminal sexual harassment, rape and sexual assault. A spokeswoman for Weinstein said, “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr Weinstein … With respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual.”
