Marvel’s upcoming Black Widow film will delve into the titular character’s past, and Rachel Weisz has confirmed there will be multiple graduates of the Red Room. Weisz spoke with IGN (per ComicBook.com) and revealed that both she and Florence Pugh are playing Black Widow assassins.

“There are quite a number [of them. I’m a Black Widow and Scarlet and Florence [Pugh]. There are quite a lot of other characters that you meet who are also Black Widows. I call tell you that Melina [Vostokoff, her character] has been cycled through the Black Widow Red Room program by the time the film starts. She started being cycled through when she was a child and so, she’s a highly accomplished spy and assassin. But I can’t tell you her relationship to anyone else.”

We first saw a different Black Widow than Natasha Romanoff in the MCU (kind of) during the first season of Agent Carter, where Bridget Regan played Dottie Underwood who turned out to be an product of the Black Widow program’s predecessor during the 1950s.

Black Widow stars Johansson, Weisz, Pugh, and David Harbour and opens on May 1st, 2020.
