Re-Animator Director Stuart Gordon Dead At 72

Variety reports that Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon has passed away at the age of 72.

After an early career in theater, he made his directorial debut with Re-Animator in 1985. He would go on to direct other horror cult classics like Dolls, From Beyond and Dagon. He was also the writer for the original Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Other films he’s directed include Castle Freak, The Pit and the Pendulum and King of the Ants.

He was primarily known for adapting stories from HP Lovecraft in film and David Mamet in theater. He also directed a Mamet adaptation as a feature film with 2005’s Edmond. He also created a musical version of Re-Animator back in 2011.
