Robert Kirkman has confirmed the timeline for the fourth season of Fear the Walking Dead, which will cross over with the main series. As ComicBook.com reports, Kirkman said in the letter section of the Walking Dead comic’s issue #176, “This half of Season Eight [of The Walking Dead] leads directly into Fear the Walking Dead Season Four, which will shake that show in a majorly cool way. So make sure you hang around for that.”

The news confirms the speculation that Morgan’s crossing over to Fear will be set up by the back half of Walking Dead’s eighth season, as opposed to the fourth season of Fear covering the time when Morgan was off-screen in the first few seasons of the main show.

Lenny James, who plays Morgan, told the site, “The things that the writers are doing with Morgan and the way that they’re navigating, it’s not really a spoiler alert, but the way that Morgan transitions through the crossover is really, really interesting. The springboard that goes from The Walking Dead to Fear is a real… He goes with some kind of trajectory. It is a full, well-thought out journey that Morgan goes on. A lot of it is tied to his relationship with Rick. A lot of it is tied to his relationship to this group of people that he feels conflicted about caring for and wanting to protect.”

The Walking Dead returns on February 25th, with Fear’s fourth season bowing on April 15th. Both shows air on AMC.
