Deadline reports that more cast members are joining the upcoming HBO Max spinoff series, Peacemaker, which is currently in the works and set to set WWE’s John Cena in the titular role. The upcoming show will be spun off the upcoming film, The Suicide Squad, which is slated to arrive in theaters later next year.

Joining the cast opposite Cena will be Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, Double Dragon), Jennifer Holland (American Horror Story), Chris Conrad (Patriot, Perpetual Grace), and Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black). Cena re-teams with Patrick for the first time since 2006’s The Marine, in which Patrick played opposite Cena as the film’s villain, Rome.

In Peacemaker, Patrick will portray Auggie Smith; Conrad is playing The Vigilante (aka Adrian Chase); Holland is reprising her role from the film as NSA agent Emilia Harcourt; and finally, Brooks is playing Leota Adebayo. The show will explore the origins of Cena’s titular character, who believes in peace at any cost. Previously set to join the cast is Steve Agee, who is reprising his role of John Economos, the warden of Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary, in the series.

Gunn is the credited creator of Peacemaker and will direct several episodes of the series. Production is set to start in 2021. The Suicide Squad is currently dated for an August 6, 2021 release.
